About EST16

n 1991, 13 year old EST16 flew to California where the West Coast breeze engulfed him in urban culture. This inevitable exposure in middle school turned his love for Hip Hop into an addiction.

In 1996, he formed the LA street hip hop group ‘Cloud West’ where they employed the four elements of Hip Hop with a “Made in Japan” style of their own. Soon after, he returned to Japan as a seasoned MC and changed his alias to Esblaze. By 1999 he formed another group with his producer partner and called themselves‘Esblaze&Losophy.’ They put in countless hours creating their unique sound but due to various reasons parted ways.

In 2004, he reunited with his long-time friend DJ High-D and joined the S.C Crew as the reborn MC EST16, EST stood for pursuing the best of best in style and entertainment. With the mic in his hand, it was here that he stepped his game up and tore down barriers to a bubbling career. Along with fellow S.C Crew member Marge, they started hosting and performing regularly throughout Japan bringing in more than a 1000 people per event. Most notably ‘Inspire@Veunos’ and ‘Microphone~Inspire~’ which started from 2000.

In 2007, DJ High-D produced all the tracks for professional surfer Tetta Mori’s DVD and ‘Sky High’ was included. Riding the success wave from the DVD, S.C Crew released the album ‘Realstic’ which contained unreleased tracks from the DVD. In September of that same year, S.C Crew dropped a full album ‘Step in the Area’ which gained rave reviews.

In 2009, EST16 challenged himself by venturing away and collaborated with Yumeko&Afrodunia as Soulz, this newly formed group was produced by Kazu from Bond Boy Tribe. EST16, now called Soulz was featured in the lead track ‘My Truth’ from the mini album ‘Love Your Sun.’ This completely different side of Soulz not only captured the minds of others, but also birthed a side to him he was unaware of.
Not one to idle himself, EST16 teamed with recording engineer and president of Magictracks Noritake “Norider” Kuroi in 2010 and formed Project Ride. With the help from various artists across the spectrum, Project Ride started to branch out to avenues outside of Japan. Living the concept “good music is good music regardless of genre,” they created diverse sounds mixing Hip Hop, Electro, Jazz, Rock, and Pop.

EST16’s stage presence is crazed and captivates the souls of the audience. He’s an easygoing, down-to-earth guy until he gets in the zone; his fearsome flow and awe-inspiring performance causes you to question his sanity. He’s got Hip Hop speeding through his veins with doses of bipolarism. With different faces and different names it’s hard to resist this lyrical maniac from hijacking your brain.

1996年にLAで現地仲間とCloud WestなるStreet Hiphop集団を結成し、本場でHiphopの四大要素をすべて実践、MADE IN JAPANのスタイルを提唱。その後日本に帰国しEmceeに専念。 1999年にはMC兼トラックメイカーの相方と共に"Esblaze&Losophy"としてEsblaze名義でサブマリン的活動を開始。オリジナルサウンドでアンダーグラウンドを邁進し独自のカラーを発するも諸事情により2002年活動休止。

2004年、兼ねてから交流の深かったS.C.CrewのDJ High-D氏と共鳴し同Crew入りを決意。オリジナリティとエンターテイメント性溢れるEST (最上級) Styleを追求するべく、EST16と名前を変え、己のMicに火を点し新しいワンシーンを切り開いた。2000年からS.C.Crewが主催でスタートし現在も毎月第３土曜日に開催されている毎月1000人以上の集客を得るモンスターイベント『Inspire@Vuenos』、同Crew所属の大蛇[MARGE]が主催する『Microphone〜Inspire〜』などのレギュラーライブや都内のみならずゲストライブまたは司会的MCとして招待されるイベントなど様々な場所を自由奔放、神出鬼没。

2007年にはDJ High-Dが全楽曲のプロデュースを担当したプロサーファー森哲太氏のサーフDVDに『SKY HIGH』を提供。また、好評を呼んだ同DVD収録--未収録の音源をまとめたサントラ的要素を含むアルバム、S.C.Crew『REALISTIC』を2007年2月にリリース。そして2007年9月には立て続けにS.C.Crewから待望のフルアルバム「STEP IN THE AREA」をドロップし、高い評価を受ける。

ソロ活動としては2009年にBond Boy TribeのKAZU氏からの要望により彼がプロデュースするユニット、夢子&AfroduniaにMCとしてSoulz名義で参加。夢子のミニアルバム『Love Your Sun』のリードソング『My Truth』をフィーチャー。EST16の時とうって変わったソフトなスタイルとそのギャップが評価され現在でも重要なポジションを担い、新天地を切り開く。

2010年、レコーディングエンジニア兼Magictracks代表のNoritake “Norider” Kuroi氏とともにPROJECT RIDEを発足。各方面の第一線で活躍するプロのアーティスト、プレイヤー、パフォーマーに協力を仰ぎ、あらゆるジャンルを網羅し、「本当に良いモノはジャンルを問わず良い」というシンプルなコンセプトの元、HIPHOP, ELECTRO, JAZZ, ROCK, POP…などさまざまなスタイルをPROJECT RIDE流に組み立て、海外にも視野を広げた活動を開始している。

普段は空気と化し闇に紛れて生きることを好むが、ゾーンに入った途端本領発揮。ステージ上での存在感は見るものを圧倒。変幻自在なフロウとパフォーマンスは必見！！自身曰くカラダ中にはHiphopの血が流れてはいるが、今まで培った経験とフロウのスキルを引っさげジャンルを超えたところで音楽を追求していきたいとイメージを重ね日々オリジナルスタイルを模索している。シーンによってさまざまな顔と名前を持つ躁鬱ド変態ソロマイカーが、EST16でありSoulzなのである。

DJ Yasu started DJing in 1995 as Yasufumi Oomura carried his motto "express yourself!" in the music industry. He's been successfully organizing a monthly events, "VIBES" on Second Saturdays at club CORE, Roppongi for 3 years since year 2000, and it has been attracting over 500 capacity each and every time, now he has his own lable, VIBESRECORDS. He produced a hit EP, "pharcde mega mix" and "expressyourself" series released up to volume 8. His DJ style is gentle and powerful to express his passion for HIP HOP culture, mainly inspired from jazz and soul of the 90's.
